What is a cold plunge tub?

A cold plunge tub is a tool in cold-water immersion therapy. The tub allows you to submerge part or all of your body in 40-degree water for a short time. The exposure to cold water offers many benefits for your health and wellness.

Ethos Wellness Center features top-of-the-line cold plunge tubs to ensure you receive the most benefits of treatment.

Dr. Palmeri recommends cold-water immersion therapy for adults interested in optimizing their physical and mental wellness.

What are the benefits of sessions in a cold plunge tub?

The cold plunge tubs available at Ethos Wellness Center offer unrivaled flow rates and consistent temperatures to:

  • Ease pain
  • Support muscle recovery after a workout
  • Reduce inflammation throughout the body
  • Regulate hormone production
  • Increase blood circulation
  • Activate immune system response
  • Boost metabolism to burn calories and fat

Sessions in a cold plunge tub can also enhance your mood, lessen symptoms of depression and anxiety, and provide greater mental clarity.

Also, regular exposure to cold water increases your resilience to discomfort and stress and assits the body with thermal regulation.

What can I expect the first time I use the cold plunge tub?

During your initial cold tub plunge session at Ethos Wellness Center, our staff guides you to help you get the most out of your treatment.

Exposure to cold water initially causes a cold shock response in your body. Your breathing and heart rate increase, and your body may shake due to the rapid constriction of your blood vessels.

Initially, you may only spend 30 to 60 seconds in the tub until your body adapts to the treatment. Dr. Palmeri recommends regular contrast therapy including 3 mins of daily cold plunges.  In the beginning, it is best to work your way up to attaining the 3-minute mark.

Dr. Palmeri may also suggest other wellness treatments, such as infrared sauna, intravenous (IV) infusion therapies and PEMF to support recovery and enhance physical and mental health.
